WeDoCampstoves loves our Campstoves and Camp Gadgets, but we also love to Backpack... this Summer was no exception as we made our way to the little town of Wanakena, New York situated on Cranberry Lake for a two night, three day, twenty miles and lots of fun. And, don't forget... the GSI Java Press for our morning coffee!

The hike into the Janak's Landing leanto was great as it was a warm August afternoon. We enjoyed nice weather and awesome sites like this Loon on the water as we made our way into the wilderness.

If you've never been there, Janak's Landing is a super nice camping site that is right on the edge of Cranberry Lake. The lean-to is back away from the water, but a nice clearing is directly on the edge of the lake. That's the site we chose to spend the first night.

The night was chilly, but the coolness felt great and allowed for a restfull sleep. It is always great to spend a cozy night in your down sleeping bag inside a dry tent. Sharing that coziness with a sleeping partner?... That's even better... Nothing beats it! Except, maybe, when you get out of your tent in the chilly, early morning and decide to make that morning cup of coffee. Now this is when the GSI Java Press is gonna come in handy. Get the water boiling and get your freshly ground coffee and Java Press out of your backpack... We're gonna have a great cup of coffee!

We carried the 30 ounce JavaPress with us on this trip. It is the right size for making coffee for two or more backpackers. Just add your coffee, pour the boiling water and then allow the ground coffee to work its magic. Three to five minutes is all that's needed for great tasting, freshly brewed coffee. Here's the gear we used to make our morning coffee...

... and here's the Java Press with the coffee and the hot water. Allow the grounds to mix with the hot water. When you're ready to drink, simply separate the grounds from the water by gently pressing down on the plunger. This pushed the grounds to the bottom of the press's container allowing you to pour a robust cup of morning coffee. You're not going to be chilly very much longer!

So enjoy that morning cup of coffee... Even when camping or backpacking. You're gonna love it!

Hey there Campers and Backpackers!

The last couple of days for us up here in the Northeast have been wonderful as far as the weather, the leaves and the Sunshine. Boy, has it been nice outside! Sunny warm days. Chilly, starry nights. The best that Autum has to offer. Nice enough to take a Sunday afternoon and head outside for a family bike ride at Chenango Valley State Park, located just outside of Binghamton, NY.

We packed up the bike gear and the family to do a tour around the park. Riding bikes works up an appitite so we planned to take some of the instant cup-of-soups that you find in the grocery store. These soups, although 'instant', are really very good. Just add boiling water and you have a great hearty meal. We took along some crackers and cheese. The kids always want Hot Chocolate.

This would be a perfect opportunity to try out the GSI Dualist Cookset that's been a big hit this summer at the We Do Campstoves online Campstove and Backpacking Cookware site.

After several miles of trail biking we found a great place right by the lake to stop for lunch. It couldn't have been more ideal; right by the water in the sun with the leaves in all of thier glory. It was heaven!

Out of our backpacks came our lunches, the MSR DragonFly stove and the GSI Dualist cookset. It took only a minute to set up and lunch was on its way. Take a look at this GSI Dualist cookset.

This cookset is loaded with features. The first thing to notice is the folding handle. It folds over the top for storage and for packing. It locks in place while in use - Very stable. The lid has an integrated strainer (we didn't use it for this outing). When you cook your pasta, you just drain the extra water through the holes in the lid. Very clever - and best of all - You don't carry a strainer with you for this task. The Dualist comes with two sets of containers. One is insulated with a neopreme 'cozy' for your warm foods, the other is a cup for drinking. There's also a lid with a 'sippy' port for drinking through. Also, the cookpot has enough room inside to store a fuel canister AND the stove head! The kit comes with a stove head storage bag to keep things safe inside the cookpot. This is one hot setup! No wonder we have been selling LOTS of these units!

Backpacking the Catskills with JetBoil Stoves...

Hey Backpackers and Campers...

Just wanted to let you know about a fun backbacking trip that we just wrapped up... A few of us here, mostly on the spur of the moment decided to do a night out with our packs. The closest place where we can get to some big mountains in a hurry is the Catskills. I checked my maps and we decided to hike the part of the Devils Path to Sugarloaf Mountain close to the town of Phoenicia, NY.

This was going to be a Saturady hike in, spend the night at a campsite, bag the mountain in the morning and then head back out. I did some meal planning and we decided to pack some of the JetBoil equipment from the We Do Campstoves campstove and backpacking cookset shop.

This was going to be a quick in, quick out type of trip so we wanted to test out the convenience and the time-saving features of the JetBoil line of Personal Cooking Systems (PCS). We packed one of the JetBoil PCS and one of the JetBoil PCS Companion Cups. This turned out to be a great choice for this hike - We were able to enjoy a quick and easy meal after our 4 mile hike in to the site. Breakfast was a snap as we woke up to the threat of rain (that we never did see), but knowing that we would be cleaned up and put away after eating quickly, We didn't need to worry about getting caught in a downpour!

Here's the best part - I HAVE to have my morning coffee, so I brought one of the JetBoil PCS Coffee Presses along and we all enjoyed a steaming cup of fresh coffee before starting up Sugarload Mountain. This was so quick and easy, I couldn't believe it!

The hike to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain was tough... Don't forget, to get to the top of Sugarloaf, you hike the Devil's Path to the top. There's a reason for this name and we found out why. A steep, rocky climb that was un-relenting. My hiking partner and I were up to the task, however (all of that running we do was paying off!). We were rewarded with, not one, but two lookouts and the top that allowed wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. We loved it!

Yes, that's right! I'm headed out this weekend.

I've been involved with a local Boy Scout troop for several years now. I have two sons that have lots of camping experience. My oldest, Ryan is 17 years old and is currently at work with his Eagle project. My younger son, Greg is a Star scout and will likely follow his brother's lead.

So, out we go this weekend. Not a big trip or anything, but the weather's been nice and I'm looking forward to being outside. I love the smell of my tent and all that is associated with the camping experince.

Of course, if there's camping, there's outdoor cooking with campstoves. I'm not 'GrubMaster' this weekend, but I am responsible for Coffee - and that's an important job! I'll be sure to have my MSR DragonFly on hand that I got from the We Do Campstoves campstove, backpacking stove and backpacking cookset online store to cook the coffee with.

I'll be having fun this weekend. I hope that you are as well!

Folks,

Fridays are always good, but this past Friday was GREAT.

Why? Because upon coming into the shop today I had a great big shippment from the Optimus Company waiting for me to open and get ready for sales.

Cools things like the Optimus Terra Weekend and Terra Solo cooksets. The Stella+ and the Terra Cookset were awesome as well. I was like a 'kid in a candy shop'.

Well, I was in a shop... I was at no other than We Do Campstoves! A great place for Campstoves, Backpacking Stoves and Backpacking Cooksets.

Campstove friends...

Today was a great day for We Do Campstoves. Why, because we received an order from the GSI company that contains several of the new GSI nForm cooksets.

Have you seen any of these yet? They are really cool. Talk about engineering... These things are great, They pack down small, but deliver EVERYTHING you could want from a backcountry cookset.

Another GREAT thing is that the space inside the cookset will hold one of the small canister stoves (yes, the burner AND the gas canister) like the Optimus Crux or the Crux Lite. Your entire cookset will be in a small densly packed kit! Like I said before - Great stuff.

Weekend trip to Pittsburgh...

Hey campers...

My family and I are making our usual run to the Pittsburgh area to visit family and friends during the Easter holiday.

Happy Easter to you and your families.

No, I didn't bring any new campstoves or camping related gear with me to show off to my family, but I did show off the Campstoves, Backpacking Stoves and Backpacking Cooksets website better known as http://www.WeDoCampstoves.com.

I showed the website and other internet related things to my 75 year old father. He doesn't use a computer so he was quite facinated (for the 15 minutes I was able to keep his attention) by all that I showed him.

I would think he would enjoy surfing the net, but he discounted the idea because it would take away from his napping and sleeping time. Wonder if I'll be as set in my ways if and he is when I reach his age? I plan to be hiking and backpacking with my wonderful wife at that age (well, at least vacationing or visiting places that I haven't seen yet!).

OK, hang in there and let's keep an eye towards the upcoming camping season!

This will be my first BLOG entry for the 'I Luv my Campstove' Blog.

My intentions are to make periodic entrys about the life and times of a Campstove salesperson. Sometimes it will be exciting, sometimes not. I hope to share my camping experiences and discuss the 'finer points' of using campstoves and backpacking stoves.

Hopefully you will learn a little and so will I!
